Rubarth grew up in Roseville, California during her early years and Pleasanton, California during her teen years. She started playing music professionally in 2004.[1] At 17 years old, prior to entering the music business she moved to Carson City, Nevada to begin an apprenticeship in wood sculpture, where she used a chainsaw to create custom sculptures.[2] After three years she reached Journeyman status and following the advice of the head instructor, quit the apprenticeship and followed her dream of becoming a full-time musician. She bought a small acoustic guitar and taught herself to play and write songs.[3] She has been writing since her teens, and was described by The Huffington Post as "part of the new old-soul generation".[4] After starting out playing gigs at open mics, local coffee shops and small venues, Rubarth moved on to touring the US and also performed several tours of Europe.[1] At concerts, she plays a hollow body Washburn H-15 guitar as well as piano.[5]
