When there’s a new kid in town its inevitable that they would be open to criticism and close scrutiny but to be ridiculed because of ‘nepotism’ in Hollywood seems somewhat hypocritical given how many celebrities feed off their relative’s celebrity status. There’s Liza Minnelli, daughter of Judy Garland, Kate Hudson daughter of Goldie Hawn and stepdaughter of Kurt Russell, Ben Stiller, son of Jerry Stiller and of course, Janet Jackson, sister of Michael Jackson.

So Alli Sims, born on July 15th 1981, arrived in Hollywood after being raised in a fairly normal environment growing up with her younger brother in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and of course with cousin, Britney Spears only a few towns away.

Attending Parkview Baptist School gave Alli her first introduction to music where it soon became her favourite lesson. By the age of four she was singing solo at her local church and taking piano lessons by four and half years of age. Sims took great pride in her performances in her church and school musical productions.

During her Freshman year at school her parents moved Alli and the family to Carrollton, Georgia which was traumatic at the time for Alli but she soon used the experience to her advantage, entering her high school pageant she won first place for two years running and once again took part in all her church and school musical productions.

By the time Alli had laid down roots in Georgia, her parents were on the move again, this time to Mississippi where Alli made the decision to take voice coaching lessons. After graduating college in 2003 Alli and her roommate moved their lives to Los Angeles. For a short while Alli found employment with Hollywood wedding planner, Mindy Weiss, but with her own singing career in mind and with a cousin already in the business Alli launched herself as Britney Spears personal assistant.

During her time fulfilling the role of Britney’s assistant Alli decided to take her chances in the world of celebrity and released her own rendition of “On My Own” from the musical Les Miserables in early August 2007.

After a short break from Britney’s employment, during a period devoted to concentrating on her own recoding career, Alli found herself back in the Spear’s fold once again and during a press interview, gave an adamant account of what a wonderful mother her cousin was to her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, and how devoted to the children she has been since her divorce from their father Kevin Federline.

Almost as soon as Alli launched herself in Hollywood she was pursued by the paparazzi but with the experiences her cousin had encountered over the previous five years Alli would now be well equipped to handle her new found fame to her own advantage.

In an effort to distinguishing herself from Britney’s singing style, Alli Sims has said that she doesn’t dance and she is not just into pop, she sees her style as more bluesy, more Norah Jones. She is aiming her music at a wider audience and wants to appeal to more than just her own age group.

Alli is rumoured to be making music with Evan Bogart and J R Rotem, who has also been connected to Britney’s career.

Citing music as her life long passion, Alli also includes Britney as one of her biggest and most reliable fans.
