Let's make things obvious at the first hand that Clay Aiken can take care of being extremely stupid. That's not a trivial ability when you are presenting yourself in something like "Monty Python's Spamalot," the crazy medieval musical that has just included the "American Idol" alumnae to its cast. We all are aware that Aiken is capable of singing. "Idol," television's beloved trial-by-fire, further justified that. So it was merely normal that Broadway, enthusiastic for fresh faces that might sell tickets, would call — just as it did for Fantasia, Frenchie Davis, Constantine Maroulis and others from "Idol." Aiken even displays the substantial buffoonery that highlights the cartoonlike character of the characters and their mission to find the Holy Grail. He supplies a pleasant caring disorientation. What's more, for someone born and raised in North Carolina, Aiken does a realistic British accent.
